Pollution And The Reason Why Green Cars Have Become Urgency
Pollution is caused by a number of factors, but the biggest contributors to it are the millions of cars that run on the streets across the world. It has become a reason of great concern for everyone including the rich and the poor alike. Total quantities of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur, lead and nitrates are increasing at an alarming rate. Pollution is not only caused by the exhaust fumes, but also because of burning of tires and road dust. Industries, another major contributor towards pollution do so by indulging in construction, metal processing, smelting etc. Nature too has its ways of causing pollution in the form of volcanic emissions and forest fires.
Even though we cannot dictate terms of Mother Nature, we can still bring about a considerable change by changing the way our vehicles work. It is high time we transformed from using conventional transport to more greener and environmental friendly modes. A lot can be achieved if alternate fuels are discovered as they would greatly impact the total emissions caused by cars; not only cars, but even the trucks which are known to blow out large quantities of smoke.
The reason why such high emphasis is put on bringing the levels of these gases under control is not only the greenhouse effect. Medically, Carbon monoxide (CO) is very harmful to the human body. It reacts with Oxygen thus reducing the total quantity of O2 available. Excess levels of this gas, if consumed, can be very fatal for one and all. Regular inhalation of it over time can lead to respiratory illnesses, most of which are permanent and non-reversible.

Gases move freely in the air and are not contained within the cities. This means that even those who live in the country side are at an equal risk. Yes, those who live in the city would be majorly affected, but those who live away won't be spared either. This is solely because those living in the cities would be highly exposed to particle pollution along with the usual gas pollution. According to medics, if things keep going the way they are, the life expectancy is bound to drop by at least 3 - 5 years within no time, all because of pollution levels in the atmosphere.
Effects of bad environment have already been felt in a lot of areas. Hospitals have been witnessing an increase in the total number of patients getting admitted with respiratory problems. The numbers are only expected to increase. It is high time that we all wake up and act before it is too late to act. Do your bits, invest in eco-friendly cars (green cars), drive efficiently, and get the vehicle checked regularly for total pollution levels. Do not take out cars for small distances, walk or cycle it to the destination if feasible. Pool in is also an option worth exploring. Researchers and scientists have already been working for a long time in an effort to discover alternates to gasoline. CNG is one such result.
